4 RULES THAT EVERY STUDENT SHOULD BREAK FOR DEEPER LEARNING

We all wanted to break school rules and be a rebel and a non-conformist when we were in school. While rules bind us and teach us to be more disciplined, not all rules under the paradigm of education are beneficial.

Rules can often impede your growth, and the age-old norms (that should be made invalid by now) can clip the wings your spread to fly in higher skies. So at times, you need to bend, if not break, some of the rules to achieve deeper learning.

Here are 4 rules that you can un-follow for a better education.

  1. Go beyond what is taught in class

We would not have an Einstein or a Newton if these brilliant minds just stuck around in class, did homework, took tests and called it a day. While your teachers may restrict you from learning beyond your syllabus, you don't need to stick to 10 chapters if you have an aptitude for the subject.

  1. Take external assistance when needed

Students are often made to feel ashamed if they need external academic aid from tutors and assignment helpers. But do not let that stop you in any way. Sign up for online courses and get help from tutors if you feel that school classes are not enough for you.

  1. Learn what you want to learn

Learn to take responsibility for what you learn by channeling your interests. You don't need to run in the corporate mill or be a doctor, an engineer or a lawyer. Try to understand what you are good at and if the need be, go against the counselor's word and take the road less travelled.

  1. Use social media in school, too.

Social media is a ubiquitous member of our lives, and it is okay if you want to incorporate it within the classroom. You can use Facebook to join chat groups for cognitive learning. You can also use YouTube to see tutorials for science classes.

So break these education rules of yore and learn what you want, how you want. Best of luck for a great future ahead.
